A Life That Saves Lives

It seemed like another typical day at the city pool house, but I could not have been more wrong. A young woman’s shriek echoed through out the entire pool house and caused a riot. A mob of frantic people began to race towards the other end of the pool house towards the origin of the scream. I watched as women and men pushed past each other and kids got run over trying to reach the horrific sight first. As I sat there trying to understand what was going on, I saw my father rise from the table and walk over to see what was causing so much commotion. Being the curious bee that I am I raced after my father, and just as we had made it past the crowed we laid our eyes on two young men pulling out a pale lifeless 8 year old boy from the pool. The men just laid the little boy flat on his back and stared. Everyone just stared at this lifeless boy not knowing what to do. My father stepped forward and pushed everyone back got on his knees and started to perform CPR. I watched as my father pushed down on the boy’s fragile chest and breathed in a new breath of fresh air trying to bring him back to life. The crowed went dead silent as we all waited and watched, yearning to see this boy gasp for his own breath of life. Finally we hear the boy cough and spit out the foul water that infested his lungs and take his own breath at life. His skin went from snowy pale white to the color of the tan beach sand.
