“Two hundred years ago, before the advent of capitalism, a man’s social status was fixed from the beginning to the end of his life; he inherited it from his ancestors, and it never changed. If he was born poor, he always remained poor, and he was born rich- a lord, or a duke- he kept his dukedom and the property that went with it for the rest of his life” (Ludwig von Mises) In the Third Edition of Economic Policy, Thoughts for today and tomorrow Mises main focal point in the article is capitalism. He clearly demonstrates different views on Capitalism, his view on capitalism and why he believes it has made the world a better place. Mises exceeds many important points in this article some including, how a serious British social situation emerges in to what we call the beginning of modern capitalism. Another being how big business depended entirely on the investment of those who buy their products, and how power is lost when customers are lost. He speaks on how the planet is much greater than before the age of Capitalism. Mises also touches on Karl Marx’s thesis on Capitalism, and how he is very wrong in his opinion.
In his lecture he states “big business’s depends entirely on the patronage of those who buy its products.” That said, I completely one-hundred percent agree with that statement. In today’s society large and even small business’s depend solely on their customers. If a business does not have customers, how will they survive? He speaks many different point...
