A picture is worth a thousand words. This painting by Mario Pastorelli is “The Unforgotten Past” by Mario Pastorelli. I will explain why I believe this picture is memories of a man past.
Looking at this picture, one of the things I notice is the ten-foot tall fencing with high arch entrance way and decorative bird statues mounted alone the top. This type of fences was commonly used in the early 1700’s, and all of the bricks were crafted in Northern parts of the world, and the fences built by hand. These type of fences where built in a community were the wealthy resided. And these stones were used to surround home or estates of the wealthy.
Cobblestone and large brick paved sidewalks were constructed throughout old towns, and wealthy community. All cobblestones were collected. They were gathered from rivers and streams to build these roads. Having cobblestone roads also allowed year around access for horses and carriages. In addition, cobblestone made the roads useful through all types of weather conditions.
The images and the people in the picture also sum to be the memories of someone’s past. There is a large image of a man’s head that covers the entrance way of the brick wall, and on that same brick wall there are faces that appear one at the top of both sides of the wall right and left.
