Understanding a person’s actions Have you ever judged someone before you got to know them and they turned out to be completely different then what you thought they were going to be like? In the novel To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee, One of the main characters says “, you never really understand a person until you climb around in this skin and walk around in it”. The book took place during a lot of racism, and it most impacted his daughter scout. The character that is most impacted by this quote was a 7 year old girl living a prejudice town. Hearing this from her dad gave her an optimistic point of view on other people. She judged people before just because they were not the same, but she learned from her mistakes. One example of that was when Scout invited one of her class mates Walter Cunningham over for lunch because he did not bring any food with him to school, then criticizes the way he eats. There cook Calpurnia then tells her if you do not have anything nice to say to him then you do not have to eat with us. The biggest example Scout demonstrating this quote is at the end when Mr. “Boo Radley” comes out. Scout had always thought Boo was a bad guy, but really turned out complexly different. When Boo Radley saves Jem and Scout from Mr. Ewells attack, he asked Scout to walk him home.
